Enjoy an accessible performance with one of Britain’s most inspiring musical artists. Pianist and motivational speaker Nicholas McCarthy performs side-by-side with Interlochen Arts Academy students. Born without his right hand, McCarthy overcame many obstacles and active discouragement to become the only one-handed pianist to graduate from Britain’s Royal College of Music in its 130-year history. Since then, McCarthy has performed alongside Coldplay and the British Paraorchestra at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Paralympic Games; soloed with major orchestras; presented individual recitals across the globe; and served as a guest presenter for the BBC Proms. In addition to his musical career, McCarthy is one of Europe’s most in-demand corporate speakers and has presented three TED Talks.
