Ukulele Workshops

Ukuleles

Quickly develop fundamental skills on the ukulele. These workshops provide a solid foundation on this versatile instrument and offer an opportunity to perform with other music enthusiasts. Register for the morning or afternoon workshop, or spend the whole day on Interlochen’s idyllic campus for a discounted price. Loaner instruments are available.

Ukulele Basics:
The morning session will begin with Ukulele 1-2-3 where you’ll learn the basics of the ukulele, including: parts of the instrument, tuning, beginning chords, and simple songs. Next, we’ll Play (Almost) Every Song in the World! where you’ll learn to play every song ever written (well, 90% of them, anyway) with four fantastic chords and find out how to switch (transpose) keys easily.

Ukulele: Improving Your Technique
In the afternoon, you will Become One with the Strum as you enhance your playing with a variety of strums including folk, calypso, rock, polka, ska, reggae, and the incredibly versatile "Benstrum" using some of your favorite songs. Then, during Ukulele Ensemble you’ll apply the knowledge you gained throughout the day and learn a special multi-part ensemble piece incorporating various chords, strums, and melody playing. Both workshops are great for players who want to differentiate their sound when playing with others.

Extend your experience and sign up for both the Ukulele Basics and the Ukulele: Improving Your Technique programs to receive a discount on your registration.
