About Rachel

Michigan native and Interlochen Arts Camp All-State alum Rachel Childers has been the second horn of the Boston Symphony since 2011. Childers is a dedicated educator, serving on the faculties of Longy School of Music at Bard College, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Tanglewood Music Center, and New England Conservatory where she is also Chair of Winds, Brass & Percussion Chamber Music.

Childers received her B.M. and M.M. from the University of Michigan, where she studied with Soren Hermansson, and an Artist Diploma from The Colburn School with teachers David Jolley and David Krehbiel.
