Presidential Search Update, July 2016

As we last reported the presidential search process is on schedule. The response from interested individuals has been quite extraordinary and the Trustee Search Committee, with the guidance of our search professionals from Isaacson, Miller has spent many hours reviewing resumes and communicating with sources. To date, 122 individuals have expressed interest in the opportunity. We have connected with an additional 153 people during the course of our networking.

The tremendous interest that has been generated by the search becoming public is a great testament to the reputation and mission of Interlochen. Faculty, students, alumni, parents, supporters—both past and present—can be proud of the fact that the Interlochen brand has never been stronger and that is reflected in the interest generated to date. By the end of the summer the Trustee Search Committee will have personally interviewed multiple prospects and the due diligence process initiated to fully research backgrounds and references. We continue to look towards our deadline of choosing a new leader by the end of this year.

Nearly all of our candidates insist on confidentiality as this process unfolds. This is normal and expected in any high profile search and we are determined not to lose any potential candidate due to a communication breakdown. Therefore, we will only report on the status of the process and timetable as we proceed until such time as our finalists allow us to more openly discuss their interest with the Board of Trustees.

We have spent a great deal of time on outreach to our multiple constituencies and the input from the Interlochen constituency has been very important in the development of our Position Profile. We will continue to communicate our progress and appreciate the interest shown by multiple members of the Interlochen community.
