Hello, Dolly! Two Interlochen alumni have joined the cast of Bette Midler’s new Broadway production of the 1964 smash hit.
Hello, Dolly! tells the story of spirited matchmaker Dolly Levi, who tries to match herself with her own client, wealthy grain tycoon Horace VanderGelder. The new production features Bette Midler in the role of Dolly and David Hyde Pierce as Horace VanderGelder.
Kate Baldwin (IAC 91-92) joins the cast as Irene Molloy, the New York City milliner and Horace VanderGelder’s would-be bride. Baldwin previously starred as Anna Leonowens in the Lyric Opera’s production of Rogers and Hammerstein’s The King and I. On Broadway, Baldwin has appeared in Big Fish, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Finian’s Rainbow and The Full Monte, garnering three Drama Desk nominations and a Tony nomination for Best Actress.
Joining Baldwin is fellow alumnus Christian Dante White (IAC 03, IAA 03-04), who is cast as a member of the ensemble. White comes to Hello, Dolly! from the Astaire Award-winning ensemble of Shuffle Along (2016). Other Broadway appearances include The Book of Mormon (2011) and The Scottsboro Boys (2010).
