Camp alumnus Glenn Seven Allen to perform with fellow alumni, current/former Interlochen faculty and staff at Great Lakes Center for the Arts
An acclaimed Broadway and opera performer, Allen will perform a selection of traditional, Broadway, opera, and pop songs in the classical crossover concert ‘The American Tenor.’
Michigan-born tenor and Interlochen Arts Camp alumnus Glenn Seven Allen (IAC 90) will debut a classical crossover concert, The American Tenor, at Great Lakes Center for the Arts in Bay Harbor, Michigan on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024.
Allen will be accompanied by a 22-piece orchestra led by renowned Broadway conductor Isaac Hayward and composed of top Michigan-based musicians—including 16 fellow alumni and current and former Interlochen faculty and staff members.

“I am thrilled to return to my Michigan roots and share my deep passion for theatre and opera on the Michigan stage,” Allen said in a press release about the concert. “This debut performance is a dream come true, and I hope it’s just the beginning of many more opportunities to bring world-class performances back to the state that shaped me as an artist.”
The concert, which is co-presented by Great Lakes Center for the Arts, will feature new interpretations of beloved traditional, Broadway, opera, and pop songs interwoven with personal anecdotes and insights from Allen. Highlights of the performance include U2’s “With or Without You,” “Bring Him Home” from Les Misérables, “Danny Boy,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Nessun Dorma,” and the theme song from the classic Michigan-based movie Somewhere in Time. The performance will also be recorded as a live album and video special.
An acclaimed performer and educator, Allen has performed on Broadway and with leading opera companies and currently teaches at Yale School of Drama and New York University. His book, The Singer Acts, the Actor Sings, reflects his expertise in both singing and acting.
