Video: Carol Jantsch

Interlochen Arts Camp and Arts Academy alumna Carol Jantsch returned to Interlochen for a weekend of master classes and performances. During her visit she worked closely with Academy tuba players, gave a recital and performed John Williams’ Tuba Concerto alongside the Arts Academy orchestra, conducted by Octavio Mas-Arocas. A 2002 graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy, Jantsch earned a position as the principal tuba for the Philadelphia Orchestra in 2006, before she had finished college. In doing so, she became the first female tuba player in a major symphony orchestra.
