The third annual Future of Cinema Fest was held on the Interlochen campus this fall and screened the best work of high school students around the world. In addition to screening student films, the festival brings some of the world’s leading filmmakers to the Interlochen campus where they work closely with students who also have a passion for storytelling and film.

In the fall of 2011, the Interlochen campus welcomed six students and two faculty members from the Shanghai Conservatory Middle School. Plans are underway to send a small group of Interlochen students and faculty on a similar trip to Shanghai in the near future.

David Hume Kennerly, a Pulitzer Prize winning photographer, visited Camp in August 2011 and shared his work with Crescendo.

Recently, Camp alumnus Barrett Foa established the Barrett Foa Musical Theatre Scholarship. It will be given annually to a high school camper studying musical theatre who shows strong potential for growth. “Crescendo” asked Barrett to share his thoughts about establishing the scholarship and how his own Interlochen experience has shaped his life and career so far.

Interlochen Center for the Arts has been named a 2011 W3 Awards winner for its video “Moments.” Interlochen was recognized as “Best in Show” in the Non-Profit Web Video category.
