Future Gifts, or Planned Giving

Planned Giving:  A Legacy of Support

A Planned Gift refers to a charitable donation strategy that is designed to help everyone involved -- a nonprofit organization, donors, and donors' heirs. It is designed to minimize both federal and state income and inheritance taxes, and possibly provide regular income payments to donors and/or their heirs. The payments may be made for a term of years before the assets actually transfer to the charity. These payments come from the interest and growth of the donated assets as they are invested.

Possible benefits to the donor of a planned gift are an income tax deduction in the year of the gift, a reduction in potential estate taxes and potential income. Bequests, life insurance, trusts and annuities are examples of planned gifts. See links below for more Planned Gift information.

When Interlochen is given notification and a copy of the will, codicil, trust agreement or life insurance policy, the donor can be enrolled as a member of Interlochen's Heritage Society. Click Heritage Society to learn more about this group.
