What Is Planned Giving? ::

A carefully planned charitable gift provides you and your loved ones with immediate benefits, which include:

  1. Immediate federal income tax deduction for all, or a portion, of the value of the gift.
  2. Elimination of capital gains tax at the time of the transfer if the asset is in the form of securities or real estate that have appreciated in value.
  3. Increased financial security for you and your heirs while providing meaningful support for Interlochen.
  4. Income for life can be paid to you and/or another beneficiary, such as your spouse or another family member.
  5. Increased income if a gift is made to a life-income plan that produces a higher yield than the donated asset, which is often the case with securities.
  6. Protecting your assets.
  7. Reducing your tax burden (now and in the future).
  8. Pass on major assets to heirs without gift-transfer estate taxes.
  9. Creating a legacy for generations to those students, campers and the local community who benefit from an Interlochen Center for the Arts experience.

A planned gift can take many forms:

  1. Bequest in a will
  2. Charitable Gift Annuity
  3. Charitable Remainder Trust
  4. Charitable Lead Trust
  5. Life Insurance
  6. Retirement/IRA gift

Each form of Planned Giving has unique benefits. If you're wondering about which route to take, we hope this site provides food for thought. If you'd like to talk about your ideas, we'll be happy to work with you, and your financial advisor - and there's no obligation at all. If you'd like to see a personalized illustration of how you can benefit from making a planned gift, fill out our Planned Giving Information Form and we will contact you to work through details that will help in your decision.
