After an exciting and much deserved string of artistic accomplishments Academy flutist Mei Stone is back from her recent performance on NPR’s From The Top and a trip to Washington, D.C. where she played with “The President's Own” Marine Band.
Before spring break, Mei traveled to Brazosport College in Lake Jackson, Texas for taping of NPR’s From The Top. Mei joined host Christopher O’Riley on stage with fellow guest artists Bryant Li, Aiyana Braun, Ayman A. Abouleish and Joshua Brown. Mei performed Pierre Sancan’s I. Moderato and III. Anime from the Sonatine for Flute and Piano early on in the program. Mei rounded out the taping with a performance of III. Animé from Sonatine for Flute and Piano by Henri Dutilleux.
Before traveling to Washington, D.C. Mei visited Interlochen Public Radio to record an episode of The Green Room with David Cassleman and Kate Botello about her recent accolades.
On Sunday, April 10, 2016 Mei joined “The President’s Own” Marine Band concert as the 2016 Marine Band Concerto Competition winner.
This coming summer Mei is traveling to Europe as part of Carnegie Hall's National Youth Orchestra of the U.S.A. Mei will be joined by fellow Interlochen alumna Jessica Shand (IAC 15) in the flute section, bass trombonist Marco Gomez Keeshan, clarinetist Sara Han, oboist David Norville and Interlochen Arts Camp alumnus Bobby Nunes (IAC 14).
Once again, congratulations to Mei and best of luck post-graduation!
