Interlochen alumni among top 2017 Tony Award nominees

Early in the morning on May 2, 2017, nominations for the 2017 Tony Awards were announced, and Interlochen alumni were again featured prominently among the nominees.

Josh Groban (IAC 97-98), best known for his career as a vocal soloist, earned a nomination for Best Leading Actor in a Musical for his Broadway debut as Pierre in Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812. The musical also received nominations for Best Musical, Best Book, Best Score, Best Choreography and more, leading all productions with 12 total nominations.

Jennifer Ehle (IAA 85-87) was also nominated for a top individual prize, getting the nod for Best Leading Actress in a Play for her role in Oslo. Ehle joins a star-studded list of nominees for the prize, with other contenders including Cate Blanchett, Laura Linney and Laurie Metcalf.

Fellow alumna Kate Baldwin (IAC 91-92) was nominated for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her role as Irene Malloy in the revival of Hello, Dolly! The Hello, Dolly! revival, which also features alumnus Christian Dante White (IAA 03-04, IAC 03) as a member of the ensemble, was nominated for 10 awards in total.
