Daniel Stolper awarded the President’s Distinguished Service Award
The longtime Arts Camp and Arts Academy oboe instructor also received a Lifetime Gold Pass.

Daniel Stolper, longtime oboe instructor at Interlochen Arts Camp and Arts Academy, has been awarded the institution’s Distinguished Service Award.
Stolper retired from active teaching this year after a 47-year tenure at Interlochen Center for the Arts. During that time, he shaped the lives of hundreds of young oboists, many of whom can be found in professional ensembles across the world.
“The temperaments our students experienced with Dan were love, patience, praise when warranted, encouragement when needed,” said former Interlochen Center for the Arts president Jeffrey Kimpton during the Honors Convocation in May. “There are great oboe performers, but the truly great oboe teachers are but a handful. How fortunate we were to have one of the greats for so long.”
The President of Interlochen Center for the Arts, at their discretion, is allowed to present a distinguished service award to those individuals who have made extraordinary contributions that have enriched and strengthened the mission and values of Interlochen Center for the Arts. This award has been given in the past to members of the faculty, staff, administration, alumni, volunteers, a parent and a donor. In addition to the Distinguished Service Award, Stolper was given a Lifetime Gold Pass, which entitles the holder to employee ticket rates after their employment at the institution concludes.
