Students and parents who attend the April Academy Open House will have an opportunity to enhance and extend their experience by attending the Composers in Context Festival, which illuminates the connection between older repertoire and new works for choir, band and orchestra. The Interlochen Arts Academy Band will perform on Wednesday, April 23; the Interlochen Arts Academy Choir will perform on Thursday, April 24; and the Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra will perform on Friday, April 25. All performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Corson Auditorium.
This enhanced open house will give prospective music students and their families an opportunity to see current music students at work, collaborating and performing. While the festival will have special appeal to music majors, all prospective students are invited and welcome to attend the festival as a way to see first-hand and take part in the creative community that exists at Interlochen.
As with all Open Houses, the April event will offer prospective students and their families the opportunity to experience a day in the life of a student of Interlochen. They can attend classes and rehearsals, take tours, and experience the wide variety of arts disciplines. Along with the Composers in Context Festival, there will also be a Senior Visual Art thesis reception and exhibition, and a Creative Writing faculty reading.
The goal of this Open House is simple; to give prospective students and their families a better chance to see the passion and creativity that happens throughout the year at Interlochen Arts Academy. More information on the April 25 Open House, including registration, can be found here.
