Scholarship students speak to their donors

“My experience at Interlochen is one that will define my future. Your gift has allowed me access to unbounded possibilities. So how is it possible for me to thank you for such a gift? As an artist, my art reflects my life. I hope to thank you with my future output in the arts; I hope to thank you with the path I take through life.”

“I have wanted to be an artist since I was five years old. I was very excited to find out that I was accepted into the Advanced Painting program. I feel I am learning a lot and growing both artistically and personally. I am truly honored to have been selected for the scholarship. Words cannot express my gratitude. I intend to use everything I achieve here to further myself in life and to ensure that your gift was an excellent investment in my future.”

“Thanks to your generous donation, I have been able to come to Interlochen for three weeks to dance. I have been dancing for eight years and I plan to pursue dance as a career. These weeks have taught me so much about dance and how I can improve my technique. Being at Interlochen has opened my eyes to a whole new world of opportunity and excitement. I hope that one day I can be in a position to be as generous as you have been, and give another aspiring dancer the same chance I have had. Thank you so much!”

“Were it not for your generous scholarship, none of this transformation would be possible. Without you, Interlochen would not be a part of my life. Though we have never met, you have been among the most important people in my life. Thank you for your generosity—you have granted me the opportunity to be successful in my endeavors, both personal and professional.”

“Having just arrived as a freshman, already I’ve had three incredible theatre masterclasses that have truly accelerated my work as a theatre major. I was able to work one-on-one with Barrett Foa. I was also able to sit in on a workshop conducted by Victoria Clark. A couple of weeks ago I participated in a workshop led by two teachers from the Royal Scottish Academy. I’m learning more quickly than I ever have in my life.”

I promise that your donation will not be wasted and I will continue to work hard and keep spreading my love of music. As we all know, it is the universal language, and maybe someday I will be able to touch souls, and they can thank me as I am thanking you now.”

“My favorite experience has been playing the world premier of the Mandolin Concerto with Chris Thiele. It was amazing to play an original work with the composer himself. I will never forget that concert; I know that that was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

“I want to thank you for your generosity and commitment to Interlochen’s artistic objectives. Simply put, I could not attend Interlochen without your financial support. Words cannot express how deeply Interlochen has affected my life in just three short months. After a couple of years struggling to find a niche in the schools back home, I have found the place where I truly belong. Each passing day fills me with an almost euphoric feeling of absolute freedom to pursue my passion for opera and vocal performance, and to be accepted and loved for that passion. Please accept my sincerest gratitude for providing my scholarship. My pledge to you is that I shall strive every day to grow, learn, and train in a manner to bring honor to this scholarship.”
