In the six-week repertory theatre production summer program, you will work with other talented students and experienced instructors to prepare a three-performance run of a full-length play.
A Winter's Tale, summer 2014
Our Town, summer 2013
Sparrow, summer 2012
This program is designed for students with moderate to advanced theatre experience. You will develop your skills in acting, voice, and movement through intensive daily repertory theatre rehearsals and acting technique class.
The program culminates with three performances of the production with technical and design support. Recent productions include The Winter's Tale, Twelfth Night, Sparrow, Anon(ymous), and Our Town. The summer 2015 title will be announced in the spring.
While repertory production students do not have elective classes, you will have many opportunities throughout the summer to enjoy student and guest artist presentations in music, dance, film, theatre, creative writing, and visual arts.
Interlochen offers students the opportunity to study with some of the top artists and educators in the field. The theatre department regularly welcomes visiting artists. Recent guests of the department include:
- Anthony Rapp (Rent, Little Shop of Horrors)
- Barrett Foa (NCIS:LA, Avenue Q, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Mamma Mia!)
- Kevin Chamberlin (Seussical, The Addams Family)
- Heather Headley (The Lion King, Aida)
- Mary Beth Hurt (Crimes of the Heart, The World According to Garp)
- Erin Dilly (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Into the Woods)
- Stephen Buntrock (Les Miserables)
Prepare two monologues from published plays of your choice and submit these as two (2) video audition files containing one (1) monologue each. One monologue should be comic and the other serious, and each should be 1-2 minutes in length.
Students with beginning to moderate theatre experience are invited to apply for the three-week intermediate theatre ensemble summer program.
