At the one-week trumpet institute, you'll enhance and develop your skills in all styles of trumpet performance. You'll join world-renowned teachers in rehearsals, classes, and performances.
Below are examples of past instructors; 2018 faculty will be announced in the spring.
During your week here, you will participate in intensive master classes, which will focus on fundamentals, breathing, repertoire, and jazz techniques. Students will have opportunities to perform in class and engage with the faculty. You'll also study advanced repertoire, including the standard solo works, jazz and contemporary music, chamber music literature, and orchestral repertoire required at most college and professional orchestra auditions.
Trumpet ensemble rehearsal and performances will help strengthen your ensemble skills. You'll also attend inspiring recitals by our faculty and distinguished guest artists.
- Video or audio files #1 and #2: Two solo works or movements of contrasting style.
Students interested in a multi-week, ensemble-based program are invited to also apply to the high school summer orchestra and wind symphony program or the high school jazz summer program, both of which are held immediately following this one-week institute.
Interlochen is also home to the Arts Academy boarding high school, which offers a trumpet major for grades 9-12, as well as a post-graduate year.
