Patty Smith at native of northern Michigan, holds both a BFA from Northern Michigan University and a MFA from Arizona State University in the area of Jewelry/Metalsmithing.
Currently she is a Visual Arts Instructor at Interlochen Arts Center. When not teaching or organizing exhibits, Smith spends her time producing jewelry and metalwork.
Prior to teaching at Interlochen Smith taught at Northern Michigan University as Adjunct Assistant Professor from 2001-2008.
Inspired by the nature and industrial mechanisms, Her metalwork and jewelry has been exhibited in museums, galleries and art fairs regionally and nationally.
Other areas of professional experience are grant writing; grant assessment and curating art exhibitions. Smith is active on several non-profit art organizations regionally and nationally.
