Matthew D. McCarren joins Interlochen Center for the Arts after spending two years as the Resident Designer and Technical Director at St. Martin’s Episcopal School in New Orleans. Matt holds an MFA in Design from The Ohio State University. Matt has served as the resident designer and technical director for the Evolution Theatre Company and Carrickmacross Productions in Columbus, OH. Selected design credits include The Little Dog Laughed, Frozen, The End of the Tour, The Blowin of Baile Gall, Stones in His Pockets, Working! The Musical, Trojan Women 2.0, and Dead Man Walking. Matt was awarded the 2007 Central Ohio Theatre Roundtable Award for Design Excellence for his scenic design of OSU’s production of Charles Mee’s Trojan Women 2.0 and his scenic and lighting designs for his production of Haiku! were displayed at the 2007 Prague Quadrennial in the Czech Republic where he also studied theatrical design at DAMU in Prague, Czech Republic.
