Mr. Alfieri has been Instructor of Percussion and Conductor of the Percussion Ensemble  at the Interlochen Arts Academy since 1980. He is also Principal Timpanist for the Traverse Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Alfieri was the Instructor of Percussion at Kentucky State University from 1978 - 80.  While at Eastman he was on the summer preparatory faculty. He is the recipient of numerous awards including: Kennedy Center Fellowship in the Arts, Outstanding Percussionist Notre Dame Jazz Festival, Who's Who in American Teachers Award, Christa McAuliffe Fellowship, Meet the Composer Grant, two Creative Artist Grants from Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs, Outstanding Composer Notre Dame Jazz Festival, and a Teacher Recognition Certificate from the National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts.

Mr. Alfieri performs in both classical and jazz idioms. Performances include: a recital at the Kennedy Center; two recent recitals at Interlochen with Interlochen faculty; soloist, percussionist, timpanist, and drum set with the Traverse Symphony; percussion and/or drum set with Frank Sinatra, Jr.; The Temptations; Aretha Franklin; Robert Gulley; Burt Bacharach; Dionne Warwick; Kansas; Yes; Jerry Lewis; Johnny Mathis; Empire Brass; and numerous others.

Mr. Alfieri is an endorser/clinician for Zildjian Cymbals. He has been featured on NPR's Performance Today. University and high school percussion ensembles throughout the nation perform his compositions.
