Jenie Altruda

Vice President, Communications and Engagement

Jenie (pronounced 'Jenny') Altruda joined Interlochen in June 2014 and oversees Marketing and Communications, IPR, Interlochen's College of Creative Arts, and IT. Jenie has delivered creative, strategic, and results-driven marketing solutions for multi-billion dollar, Fortune 500 retail and consumer goods businesses for over twenty years.

Her work has taken her across the world and placed her in front of global audiences. She comes to us from Amway where she lead global public relations and marketing efforts for the company's $4B Nutrilite Vitamin and Dietary Supplement brand and, most recently, oversaw executive communications and corporate affairs for their Americas region. Previously, she held leadership roles in marketing and public relations at PETCO Animal Supplies, Inc., in San Diego, California and at the global book retailer Borders Group, Inc., in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

A lifelong advocate of the arts, Jenie served on the boards of directors for the University of Michigan Museum of Art in Ann Arbor, Michigan and North Coast Repertory Theatre in Solana Beach, California.

Jenie obtained her B.A. in English Literature from The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. While attending college, she worked as the theatre editor for The Michigan Daily and authored, acted in, and directed several theatrical productions for the University's Basement Arts black box theatre troupe. She also studied Shakespearean acting with faculty from the British Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Jenie resides in downtown Traverse City and is the mother of two school-aged boys, Ben and Nate, who have both attended Interlochen Arts Camp.
