Ida Kavafian (IAA 68-69, Violin)

Ida Kavafian spent six summers at Interlochen Arts Camp before spending her junior year at the Academy. Ida then attended The Juilliard School where she went on to graduate with honors. She has enjoyed a career as soloist, chamber musician and arts administrator, having served as director of the Music from Angel Fire festival in New Mexico for 25 years. Her leadership at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center has placed her as one of the preeminent chamber musicians of our time. Ida is also a champion of contemporary music, with many premiers and collaborations of new works, and teaches at Curtis, Bard and Juilliard.
