Christopher began his education career as an English teacher in the public school systems of Maine and Montana before moving to Switzerland to assume the responsibilities of Director of College Counseling for The American School in Switzerland. After three years in Switzerland, Christopher continued as a college counselor at The John Cooper School in Texas and Chapel-Hill Chauncy Hall School in Massachusetts. Over his career he has served as a faculty member in English and History, department head, a school dean, head dorm parent, and has extensive coaching experience. He and his wife, Kierstin, were married in 2009 and now live in Traverse City.
