Alexa Still joined the faculty at Oberlin Conservatory in 2011. Prior to Oberlin, she taught at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (Professor of Flute and Director of Performance Research) and the University of Colorado at Boulder. A New Zealander, Alexa studied in New York (SUNY Stony Brook), won competitions including the New York Flute Club Young Artist Competition, and, East and West Artists Competition and then returned home as principal flute of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra at the age of 23. Other awards include a Churchill Fellowship and a Fulbright. Alexa is known for many recordings on the Koch label (E1), and performances in England, Germany, Slovenia, Turkey, Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil, Canada, Korea, China, Australia, New Zealand, and of course across the United States. She is principal flute of the Brevard Festival and has served the NFA as Chair and member of the Board of Directors, and Program Chair.
