Each year, hundreds of brand new pianos are shipped to Interlochen for the Summer Arts Camp. This year we are following one specific piano, a Kawai GX-2, on its entire journey from the Kawai factory in Japan to the Interlochen campus where it will be played by hundreds of young musicians.
Arthur Bloom, an Interlochen Arts Camp alumnus, professional musician, and composer, launched MusiCorps after meeting a soldier and drummer who had lost his leg to an improvised explosive device. Years later the program has helped hundreds and is producing amazing music along the way.
Interlochen creative writing students earned 54 awards at the recent Midwest regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Three students received the prestigious "Gold Key" for their work and will move on to the national competition.
