Spring 2012, in collaboration with the Music and Dance divisions, the Interlochen Arts Academy Theatre Arts department staged a production of "West Side Story" providing an opportunity for students to explore a landmark work from the canon of American musical theatre.

In the summer of 2013, Interlochen Arts Camp launched a new six-week musical theatre program for junior students. The junior musical theatre program helps students build a foundation in acting, dancing and singing.

The event showcased two Interlochen Arts Academy students who performed vocal and trumpet pieces. The sold-out concert highlighted Garrison Keillor’s creative and comical style along with several musical acts.
