Job Title: Stone Waterfront/Boat Cave Director
Reports to: Waterfront Manager
Position Purpose: The Stone Waterfront/Boat Cave Director is responsible for swimming programs at the public-accessible Stone Waterfront, and managing boating programs for campers, staff, and guests.
Essential Job Functions: The Stone Waterfront/Boat Cave Director is in charge of teaching and facilitating small craft use for campers, staff, and guests. S/he is in charge of all boating equipment, including inventory and maintenance. The daily supervision of the operation of Stone Waterfront and its staff are also his/her responsibility.
Other Job Duties: Additional duties include, but are not limited to: evaluating policies and procedures as they apply to boating programs, setting up and tearing down waterfront docks and lines, transporting and delivering equipment, keeping accurate equipment inventory, assisting with training and orientation of waterfront staff, and attending lifeguard in-services. Waterfront staff members sometimes assist with divisional coverage responsibilities as defined by the Coordinator of Leisure Arts or the Deans of Students.
Equipment Used: The Stone Waterfront/Boat Cave Director should be familiar with standard lifeguard rescue equipment, including rescue tube, backboard, ring buoy, shepherd’s crook, etc.,. S/he should have experience with and be familiar with a variety of small craft, including canoes, rowboats, kayaks, and boats with outboard motors.
Qualifications: Stone Waterfront/Boat Cave Director must be 18 years of age and possess valid American Red Cross certifications in Lifeguard Training & First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer: Lifeguard. Small Craft Instructor Certification preferred. Experience teaching small craft (sailing, canoeing, kayaking, etc.) required.
Compensation: $1260 including room and board
