Job Title: Recording Engineer
Reports to: Chief Engineer, Interlochen Public Radio
Position Purpose: The Recording Engineer provides audio recording engineering and technology expertise for the Music Department, Interlochen Public Radio, and other departments as required; sets up and records music concerts and recitals, studio recording sessions, live radio broadcasts and audio duplication using digital recording, editing and audio compact disc mastering hardware and software.
Essential Job Functions: The Recording Engineer sets up and records music concerts and recitals, studio recording sessions, live radio broadcasts and audio duplication.
Other Job Duties: Ability to utilize advanced audio recording, mastering and editing techniques. Ability to set up, calibrate and operate studio recording equipment. Knowledge of systems analysis, system software and computer hardware. Ability to install and maintain electronic recording studio equipment and facilities.
Equipment Used: Digital recording, editing and audio compact disc mastering hardware and software.
Qualifications: Applicants for the position should have a strong background in classical music and a solid theoretical and practical understanding of the concepts, techniques and technology involved in classical music recording, editing and production.
Compensation: $900 including room and board. Internship credit is available.
