Pedestrian Safety Officer

Job Title: Pedestrian Safety Officer (PSO)

Reports to:  Director of Security, Transportation and Campus Safety

Position Purpose:  Provide safe crossing of the state highway for campers, faculty and staff.

Essential Job Functions:   PSOs monitor vehicle traffic on a busy state highway, safely stopping traffic to allow pedestrians to cross.

Other Job Duties:   Additional responsibilities may include providing shuttle service around campus for disabled and/or injured campers. PSOs may also be called upon to work with the security department, assisting as needed.

Equipment Used:  Safety vests, flashlights, security, two-way radios, security vehicles.

Qualifications:   Officers must maintain a professional and courteous demeanor and appearance at all times, as well as positive public relations skills. Officers must be willing to accept responsibility, be self motivated and work without supervision. Qualified applicants possessing current First Aid, CPR and AED certifications will be given priority. Criminal and motor vehicle background checks are required.

Compensation: $8.00 p/h (living off-campus), $1210 salary (living on-campus includes room and board)
