Job Title: Outdoor Environmental Science Teacher
Reports to: Vice President of Education Programs
Position Purpose: The goal of the program is to give campers whose primary program is centered in the arts a chance to experience and learn about the natural world in an experiential education environment. The program focuses on outdoor science experiences with numerous natural resources such as lakes, forests, streams, the coast of Lake Michigan as well as an onsite small science museum as the classroom.
Essential Job Functions: Provide outdoor environmental education instruction to camper’s ages 12-15 through an experiential education model of instruction. The person in this position works with a second science teacher who is in charge of the program for the campers ages 8-11.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess at least a BS degree or its equivalent, and experience teaching middle school age children is preferred. A strong interest in environmental science/experiential education is important. Additionally, an interest in building a program around the natural resources available on the Interlochen campus/surrounding, enthusiasm, flexibility and effective communication skills are a must.
Compensation: $2,800 for six weeks, lunch and housing stipend
