Job Title: Camp Nurse
Reports to: Director of Health and Wellness Services
Position Purpose: To provide nursing care to campers with a variety of health needs ranging from minor illnesses and injuries, to chronic illnesses such as asthma and diabetes.
Essential Job Functions: Work in one of 3 infirmaries with a team consisting of a Physician or Nurse Practitioner, fellow Nurses, Health Services Assistants, and a Secretary. The Camp Nurse will perform nursing assessments, dispense medications, draw labs, and perform other duties as required to serve the population.
Other Job Duties: Shifts are primarily 8 hours long (days 7a-3p; evenings 3p-11p; or nights 11p-7a) to provide 24 hour coverage. Additional hours may be required for opening, changeover and closing weekends of Camp. Nurses that work a minimum of 40 hours/week may receive on-campus housing if needed.
Equipment Used: Basic computer skills and the ability to use e-mail preferred.
Qualifications: Experience in school, camp or pediatric nursing and hands-on experience working with children aged 8– 18 years, preferred. Good pediatric assessment skills, flexibility, the ability to work well with a team, and the ability to make independent decisions are essential. Current Michigan license as an RN or LPN, current CPR certification, and a TB test or chest x-ray is required prior to start date of contract.
Compensation: Salary $3240 includes room and board, or $3840 with one meal during shift ( living off campus). Salaries are based on 40 hours per week for 6 weeks (part-time or 2-3 week contracts may be available for those living off-campus).
