Commencing September 2009
Responsibilities: Three hours a day of college-level studio instruction in ceramics to talented and highly motivated high school art students. Duties include supervision of the ceramics studio and kilns, one evening per week in open tutorial session and monitoring visual arts studios, departmental service and assistance with specialized Thursday programming, assistance with preparation of exhibitions, and other work appropriate to the Academy's mission.
Qualifications: MFA in ceramics or other 3D areas with documented work in ceramics is desired. Candidates must possess expertise in multiple processes in the area of ceramics and have knowledge of both historical and contemporary issues specific to these areas. Technical knowledge should include glaze formulas, clay mixing and experience with firing both gas and electrical kilns. Additional teaching experience in other areas (sculpture, photography, drawing, painting, and printmaking) is helpful but not required.
Compensation and Benefits: $15,000 salary stipend, benefit package and housing and daily lunch provided.
