Job Title: Alumni Engagement Internship

Reports to: Director of Alumni Engagement

Position Purpose:  To engage the alumni of Interlochen Center for the Arts in an effort to build strong networks of contributors, volunteers, recruiters and “friend raisers” for the institution.  Interlochen’s Alumni Engagement Internship will provide the opportunity to obtain the necessary knowledge to begin a career in alumni relations, donor relations/cultivation and stewardship.

Essential Job Functions:  Essential functions include: Working effectively in a team environment.  Maintaining a friendly and flexible attitude while hosting alumni and visitors.   Possessing the ability to utilize constructive and professional communication skills.  Flexibility/availability to work a varied schedule-including some evenings in a variety of physical environments. (Some work weeks may require hours in excess of 40 hours). 

Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, internet services and databases desired.  Duties and responsibilities will vary with the individual hired. 

*Alumni Engagement Intern will: assist with the set-up, maintenance and break-down of Apollo Hall – Interlochen’s summer time alumni welcome center,  greet alumni and visitors, assist with registration and hospitality throughout the summer especially during Summer Alumni Weekend, track alumni visitors, generate follow-up correspondence to alumni via email, construct and deliver welcome packets, assist with special events-including evening receptions, conduct research, conduct recorded interviews of alumni for institutional history and record/update alumni information in Interlochen's database.

Other Job Duties: May assist other areas of the Advancement Department as needed.

Equipment/Programs Used:  Computer, phone, sound recording equipment, golf cart, Microsoft Office Suite, alumni database.

Qualifications:  Must be at least 18 years of age, have excellent customer service skills a must, knowledge of computers, a team player yet able to work independently and work a flexible schedule. 

Compensation: $800 includes room and board
