Election Coverage
Candidates for the 104th and 101st state house districts appeared in Interlochen to discuss their ideas for how to move Michigan forward and rebuild its economy. Over the last year more than three thousand people in a six county area have contributed hundreds of ideas for how they would like to see the Grand Traverse area grow. Now, planning consultants for the Grand Vision have winnowed all that information down to four options. And they’re asking for more feedback. A Traverse City Central High School Student has been charged with Ethnic Intimidation after allegedly beating another student, and using a racial slur, on campus late last month. We should have beautiful weather this weekend – just perfect for the Benzie Fall Festival – and the Pumpkin Chuckin’ Contest. Students around the area have built massive medieval weapons to launch pumpkins in Frankfort’s Betsie Lake. Green Party Presidential Candidate Cynthia McKinney visits Traverse City Thursday – less than a month before the national vote. Neither of the major party candidates have made stops in Northern Michigan since the Primary.
