PROJECT trio Leads Master Class

PROJECT trio visited the Interlochen campus in October 2010 to work with students and perform. While all three members received advanced classical training at the Cleveland Institute of Music, their repertoire includes a wide variety of music that often blurs the lines between traditional classical music and other genres like jazz and hip-hop. The energetic chamber ensemble includes Interlochen alumnus Eric Stephenson on cello, Peter Seymour on bass, and Greg Pattillo on flute. Patillo gained notoriety in early 2007 when several YouTube videos featuring his ground-breaking beatbox style of flute-playing went viral and were viewed by millions.

In addition to leading master classes, the PROJECT trio musicians shared advice on building a career in classical music and developing an audience outside of a traditional orchestra setting. They also shared their thoughts on the group’s history and the importance of finding musical partners who share musical tastes and outlook.
