Motifs for July

Cynthia (Shore) Robins (IAC 55-56) continues singing and is at the music school at the University of Michigan. 

Nancy (Ferguson) Korda (AS 59, IAC 60-62, IAA 62-64, UW 65) received her master's degree from the University of Michigan. She is a member of the Pasadena Symphony and in 2010 she moved to Silverton, Ore. where she opened The Edward Adams House Bed & Breakfast.

Gerard Schwarz (IAC 60-62) stepped down as music director of the Seattle Symphony after having served as the orchestra's music director since 1983. He will lead the symphony several weeks each year as its conductor laureate.

Claire Skinner (IAC 71) recently joined the board of directors for The Naples Players, an organization that offers visual and performing arts to all ages in southwest Florida.

F. Hudson Miller (IAA 72-76, IAC St 76-78) is a supervising sound editor at Sony Pictures Entertainment. He recently accepted an alumni award from Grinnell College for distinguished achievement and service. Miller serves on the Interlochen Motion Picture Advisory Board.

Alan Vigland (IAA Fac 72-73) is the artist of Vigland Pottery Studios in Benzonia, Mich. He uses porcelain clay from England to sculpt lamps, vases, dinnerware and pitchers.

Victoria Clark (IAC 77) was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical for “Sister Act.”

Gregory Loselle (IAC 80, IAC St 81-92, 97, IAC Fac 06-07) wrote "A String, A Frame, A Tail," and "Coyote Captured in Harlem Cemetery." Both have been accepted for publication by “Enizagam,” a literary journal published in Oakland, Calif..

Kenneth Tarver (AS 83-84, IAA 83-85) has been invited to perform at the Royal Wedding of Prince Albert and Charlene Wittstock in Monaco. Kenneth recently released a DVD of Handel’s “Belshazzar” on the Harmonia Mundi label as well as a CD of the opera “Sesostri, rè d’Egitto,” by Terradellas, which he recorded with the Royal Chamber Opera Company. He has plans for a performance at the Vatican and will perform “Te Deum” by Berlioz, with the Oslo Philharmonic.

Dan DeLisi (IAC 87-89, IAA 89-91) was appointed as a representative on the South Florida Water Management District’s governing board.

Samuel Hall (IAC 89, IAA 89-90) was recently selected as a semi-finalist in Cincinnati Opera's "Opera Idol" competition and will perform in concert with the other nine semi-finalists on July 5th.

Suzanne (Bonn) Miyake (IAC 89, IAA 90-94, IAC St 94-95) has been in Nagoya, Japan for more than eight years and is a professor of English at a local university. She and her husband welcomed their first child, daughter, Aika, this year. 

Matt Schicker (AS 89, IAA 90-93, IAC St 94) is a freelance theatrical consultant and a producer of the Broadway-bound musical “YANK!”, directed by David Cromer.

Barrett Foa (IAC 92-95) is a creator, producer and performer in the production of “For the Record: John Hughes,” a selection of songs and scenes from John Hughes’ films.

Candace (Downing) Bartel (IAA 93-95, IAC St 96-98) is a music therapist a newly-licensed Kindermusik educator. She works and teaches in Long Beach, Calif..

Christina Hutchens Sanok (AS 93, IAA 97-98) and her husband, Joe Sanok, announce the birth of their first child, Lucia Bay Sanok, born on May 28, 2011.

Alice Dade Del Campo (IAA 95-98) is principal flute of Festival Mozaic in San Luis Obispo, Cali. and is the visiting assistant professor of flute at the University of Missouri.

Holly Anna Bonino (IAA 96-97, IAC St 96-97) plays viola for the Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra.

Hsin-Ni (Shinni) Liu (IAA 96-99) moved to Budapest, Hungary in 2008. In 2011, Liu was selected as the Taiwan 100 Years Anniversary Outstanding Young Artist from the Federation Overseas Chinese Association.

Elizabeth (Ball) Crawford (IAA 97-98, IAC St 99) recently completed her master’s in performance at the University of Utah.

James Leija (AS 97) is the new director of education and community engagement at the University Musical Society. He holds three degrees from the University of Michigan and is an educator with Ann Arbor’s Nonprofit Enterprise at Work (NEW).

Ben Simon (IAC 97, IAA 97-99) creates custom wood musical instruments and sculptures. He lives in Brooklyn, N.Y. 

Megan Robbins (IAC 98-01, IAA 01-02, IAC St 02-03) and Rossman Palfrey (IAC 00, IAC St 03) will be married in August 2011 Both Robbins and Palfrey are pursuing a doctorate of music at Northwestern University.

Matthew Robinson (IAC 98) received a master’s degree from the University of Connecticut in public administration.

Kathryn Rodgers (IAC 98-99, 01-03) has a bachelor’s of fine arts in industrial design from Carnegie Mellon University. She is an apparel designer for Reebok in Boston.

Lorraine Gayer (IAC 02-03, IAA 03-06, IAC St 06) secured a lead role in “Follies” at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. 

Eddie Lawrence (IAA 02-04) plays Alonzo in "Cats" which was recently featured at the Wharton Center for Performing Arts at Michigan State University.

R.J. Magee (IAC 02-05, IAA 06-08) is the art intern at the Arden Theatre Company in Philadelphia. He will make his professional theatre debut in Philadelphia playing the role of Lewis in the musical "Pippin." Magee is a senior musical theatre student at Temple University.

Patrick Mulvey (IAC 02, IAA 02-03) will star as Tony in “Billy Elliot” on Broadway in New York this summer.

Maria Noe (IAC 03-04) graduated from Bowling Green State University's College of Musical Arts. She led Beyonce's "Single Ladies" performances for RWS & Associates Entertainment.

Olivia Lilley’s (IAC 05, IAA 06-07) first feature length film script, "Becky Needs To Get Laid," will be presented in "Planet Connection’s Theatre Festivity" at the Gene Frankel Theatre in Manhattan.

Kelly Rhyne (IAA 05-06) recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in musical theater from Columbia College Chicago. She is currently working at Walt Disney World through their college program.

Chris Stahl (IAA 07-09, IAC St 09) will be working as an acting apprentice at the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company in Boston. He is working toward a bachelor’s of arts degree in acting at Fordham Lincoln Center.

Marcelina Suchocka (IAC 08, 10, AI 10) was the first place winner of the “Big Break” contest presented by From the Top and Carnegie Hall. Suchocka won a chance to perform at Carnegie’s Zankel Hall.
