  • In late 2010, Interlochen Center for the Arts received an unexpected gift of nearly half a million dollars from the estate of John and Joan Herlitz to establish an endowed scholarship for visual artists and to support the construction of a new painting studio. To those who knew John and Joan Herlitz, the gift was a continuation of their lifelong commitment to the arts and to the development and training of artists.
  • Jeffrey Kimpton, president of Interlochen Center for the Arts, and Derek Kwan, director of Interlochen Presents share a preview of the 2011 Summer Arts Festival. Steely Dan, Elvis Costello, Chicago, the Beach Boys and the Emerson String Quartet will be just a few of the stars taking the stage. Over the course of two and a half months, Interlochen will present more than 30 major concerts and hundreds of student and faculty performances.

  • Sponsored by Emerson of St. Louis, the Emerson Scholar Program provides the opportunity for outstanding high school musicians to attend Interlochen Arts Camp.The Emerson Scholars Award provides full tuition for the six-week summer program. This is the 22nd year Emerson has sponsored the scholarship program.
  • In May 2011, three Academy students will travel to South Bend, Indiana for the 2011 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition.
