The third annual Future of Cinema Fest was held on the Interlochen campus this fall and screened the best work of high school students around the world. In addition to screening student films, the festival brings some of the world’s leading filmmakers to the Interlochen campus where they work closely with students who also have a passion for storytelling and film.

In the fall of 2011, the Interlochen campus welcomed six students and two faculty members from the Shanghai Conservatory Middle School. Plans are underway to send a small group of Interlochen students and faculty on a similar trip to Shanghai in the near future.

The Arts Academy will offer a new singer-songwriter major starting in the 2012-13 academic year.

Interlochen Arts Academy officially kicks off its yearlong celebration with a performance of the Academy orchestra joined by guest artist and Academy alumnus Kevin Cobb (class of 1989). The performance is scheduled for January 20, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. For those who cannot attend the live performance, it will also be available by live webcast.
