1940s

Robert Thayer (IAC 43-44), dean emeritus of the College of Musical Arts at Bowling Green State University, is interim director of the Bower School of Music at Florida Gulf Coast University. Previously, he has served as interim dean of the School of Music at DePauw University, interim head of the Department of Music at the University of Connecticut, and dean of the Conservatory at Lawrence University.

1960s

Regina Mushabac (IAC 60-61) held a cello master class on the campus of Interlochen Center for the Arts and a performed a recital with collaborative pianist Steve Larson (ICA St 99-present) in the Dendrinos chapel in January 2010. Regina is professor of cello at the Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory of Music, Cleveland, Ohio.

Judith (Allen) Spitzer (UW 61) is a woodwind instructor and lecturer of music at Minot State University in North Dakota. She is principal clarinetist with the Minot Symphony Orchestra and is a long-time member of the Minot City Band and the Minot Community Band.

Joseph Lliso (IAC St 62) will conduct the Pan American Symphony Orchestra, the New York East and Bushwick Children’s Chorus at a performance at Saint Michael's Church in Brooklyn, New York on February 27, 2010.

Ann (Freedlander) Hunt (IAC 62-63, 65) enjoys singing in a chorus near Wooster, Ohio. Her friendship with Erica Goodman (IAC 57-64) has continued since her summers at Interlochen. Ann is working on her first book, a non-fiction novel about her family business that is scheduled to be published in 2012.

Debra Salsbury Feintech (IAC 65, IAA 65-68, IAC St 69-70) is a counselor and shamanic practitioner with her husband at The Couples Center in Portland, Maine. One of her autobiographical stories was published in the 2009 book, "Cup of Comfort for Adoptive Families."

Dr. Elaine M. Coney (IAC 65-67, IAA 65-70) was honored by the Mississippi legislature during the 23rd annual Higher Education Appreciation Day-Working for Academic Excellence (HEADWAE) program.

Barbara (Gerald) Barber (IAC 67-69) teaches in Longmont and Estes Park, Colo. She is also a recording artist, publisher, consultant, editor and author. She has taught and performed across North and South America, Central America, Europe, Asia, New Zealand and Australia. She is active in the American String Teachers Association (ASTA) and the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA). She has served as editor of the American String Teacher “Private Teachers Forum,” chaired the 2003 ASTA Syllabus violin revision committee and is a registered teacher-trainer and past board member of the SAA. Barbara has taught at Texas Tech University, Texas Christian University and the University of Colorado at Boulder. She has created several books and CDs and they are distributed by Alfred Music.

Judith (Halliday) Snyder (AS 64-65, IAA 67-69) enjoys performing in ensembles, community chamber groups and churches. She was a registered nurse until September 2009 when her husband David and she moved from New Hampshire to California so she could care for her mother. They have two grown and successful children, David and Valerie. She hopes to begin learning to play the cello.

Jonathan Newmark (IAC 68) released a CD of his chamber compositions, performed by members of the Baltimore Symphony and the Marine Chamber Orchestra, which is available on CDbaby.com. He is performing chamber music and has attended the Chamber Music Conference and Composers' Forum of the East at Bennington College in Vermont for 29 summers. Jonathan is a neurologist, a Colonel in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, a professor of neurology at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland, consultant to the Surgeon General for Chemical Casualty Care, and medical deputy to the General. Jonathan is an expert in medical defense against weapons of mass destruction.
