Plan Your Campus Visit

There is no better way to discover Interlochen Arts Academy than to see it for yourself. In order for you and your student to get the best sense of of the Academy, we strongly encourage visits during the academic year to see first-hand what it is like to be a student at Interlochen.  Please contact us at to begin planning your visit!

Year-Round Visit Options

Spring 2015
During April we encourage families to schedule a weekday visit for either a half or full day (see details below).  Beginning in May, we will be offering both visit options by appointment on the first four Fridays (May 1, 8, 15, and 22).  We are unable to offer campus visits during the final week of May due to Festival and Commencement.

Summer 2015
Our Academy faculty are not on campus during the months of June and August.  At this time, only campus tours and Academy Admission Counselor meetings are available by appointment.

During Interlochen Arts Camp (June 27th-August 10th), regular campus tours are available at the Information Booth Monday-Saturday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.  By request, we are happy to arrange an individual tour with a recent Academy alum, as well as an Academy Admission Counselor meeting and a meeting with artistic faculty as available.  Class observation is limited.

Fall 2015
Full and half day individual campus visits are available on weekdays beginning Monday, September 14th.

Academic Year Visit Options

Individual half-day
Half-day visits typically run from approximately 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Prospective students typically have the opportunity to shadow a current student, see one academic class, eat lunch in the Stone Cafeteria, enjoy a campus tour, and attend the start of the artistic classes in the afternoon. Artistic classes are typically from 2-6 p.m., so families are welcome to stay as long as their schedule permits. Live audition or artistic interviews available upon request.

Individual full-day
Full-day visits typically begin around 8:00 or 9:00 a.m. and run through the end of the school day around 5:00 p.m. Visitors begin their day in the Admission Office and then shadow a current student throughout the day. Applicants will also have the opportunity to audition or have an artistic interview, eat lunch in the Stone Cafeteria, enjoy a student-led tour, and meet with an Admission Counselor. Complimentary evening performances are often available on Friday visit days.

Open House
Our Academy Open Houses have concluded for the year. We welcome you to schedule an individual visit if you are exploring the Academy for Fall 2015. If you are interested in Fall 2016, we welcome you to attend one of our Open Houses in the coming academic year. We hope to post those specific dates early in the summer!
