Session 1 (June 20 - July 11)
- Two-hour studio course: Welding and Construction will introduce a variety of additive sculpture techniques such as brazing, welding and other fabrication processes, and will use these techniques in the creation of sculptural forms. Students will also explore surfacing and finishing techniques.
- One-hour studio course: Plaster and Ceramic Sculpture will investigate sculptural approaches to using these materials. Students will explore a variety of processes including additive, subtractive and casting techniques.

Session 2 (July 12 - August 3)
- Two-hour studio course: Casting and Carving will explore casting techniques using a variety of materials such as metal, plaster, clay and wax and techniques for working reductively in such materials as wood, plaster and stone.
- One-hour studio course: Figure Sculpture will give students opportunities to work from live (clothed) models. Students will learn to craft the human form using a variety of traditional and innovative approaches. Instruction will emphasize the structure and function of human anatomy as well as emotional and psychological approaches to depicting the human form.

Facilities
In 2009, the visual arts programs will relocate to the new Dow Center for Visual Arts. This exceptional facility includes separate studios for ceramics, sculpture, painting, drawing, metals, digital arts, photography, printmaking and fibers. The light-filled complex also features a professional gallery space for exhibitions.
