Session 1 (June 20 - July 11)
- Two-hour studio course: Soft Construction will introduce the materials and techniques historically associated with fibers or the "soft arts." Students will use a variety of techniques to create innovative fiber-based work such as felting, papermaking, sewing, weaving and crocheting.
- One-hour studio course: Jewelry Design will introduce a variety of techniques used in the creation of jewelry. Students will explore innovative approaches to traditional forms such as rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings.

- Visual Arts Hour
Session 2 (July 12 - August 3)
- Two-hour studio course: Surface Design will explore a variety of traditional and innovative fibers techniques and surface treatments. Students will explore such processes as batik, shibori, African mud cloth, embroidery, fabric-dying and papermaking.
- One-hour studio course: Book Arts will cover basic materials and techniques associated with bookbinding. Students will explore the book as a form for presenting art-making methods or working sequentially.

Facilities
In 2009, the visual arts programs will relocate to the new Dow Center for Visual Arts. This exceptional facility includes separate studios for ceramics, sculpture, painting, drawing, metals, digital arts, photography, printmaking and fibers. The light-filled complex also features a professional gallery space for exhibitions.
