Overview

The Fiber Arts and Papermaking Studio is designed to introduce students to materials and techniques historically associated with the "soft arts." Assignments cover basic techniques in areas such as: weaving, pattern drafting, machine sewing, embroidery, felting, crocheting and papermaking. Emphasis is placed on understanding the development of fibers and papermaking as an expressive and vital form of contemporary art. Students can also participate in open studio for group critiques and discussion. No previous Fibers experience required.

  • One or two optional electives*

* It is suggested that students try to balance their day with two- and three-dimensional elective classes.
