Session 1 (June 20 - July 11)
- Two-hour studio course: Hand-Building will explore techniques in ceramics including slab and coil work and modeling. Students will create a variety of functional and sculptural objects using these methods. Students will also learn different glazing and firing techniques.
- One-hour studio course: Plaster and Ceramic Sculpture will investigate sculptural approaches to using these materials. Students will explore a variety of processes including additive, subtractive and casting techniques.

- Evening tutorial twice a week
- Visual Arts Hour
Session 2 (July 12 - August 3)
- Two-hour studio course: Wheel-Throwing will explore the tradition of throwing functional ceramics on the wheel and investigate a variety of form types and functions. Students will also learn different glazing and firing techniques.
- One-hour studio course: Raku is a traditional Japanese firing technique. Students will create a variety of ceramic works and participate in a sequence of Raku firings designed to yield distinctive glaze results.

Facilities
In 2009, the visual arts programs will relocate to the new Dow Center for Visual Arts. This exceptional facility includes separate studios for ceramics, sculpture, painting, drawing, metals, digital arts, photography, printmaking and fibers. The light-filled complex also features a professional gallery space for exhibitions.
