Overview
The Advanced Painting Intensive program is for students with previous painting or drawing experience and established skills. It focuses exclusively on painting materials and techniques. Students will also explore composition, color psychology, processes, materials, the elements of painting and contemporary design and the use of color to depict the emotional and psychological approaches to the human form.

Facilities
In 2009, the visual arts programs will relocate to the new Dow Center for Visual Arts. This exceptional facility includes separate studios for ceramics, sculpture, painting, drawing, metals, digital arts, photography, printmaking and fibers. The light-filled complex also features a professional gallery space for exhibitions.
Portfolio Requirements
- Submit a minimum of five images that represent the applicant's highest quality of work. Three pieces must be made from direct observation (drawn from life) and may be in any medium.
- Portfolios may be submitted: By email to admission@interlochen.org with the subject line "Advanced Painting Portfolio" and the applicant's full name. By US mail or parcel post photographs, slides or CDs must be labeled with "Advanced Painting Portfolio" and the applicant's full name on each item.
Portfolio materials will not be returned. Please do not send original work.
