High School Summer Theatre Arts Programs ::

High School Theatre Arts at Interlochen Arts Camp is where summer camp meets summer stock. Theatre students study daily with some of the top artists and educators in the field, as well as with professional directors, designers and craftspeople from all over the United States.

During the summer, students perform in either a repertory production or a musical production, or participate in a musical theatre workshop. Practical experience is supplemented by studio classes covering various aspects of performance and technical theatre. High School Theatre Arts Production performances provide a complete pre-professional experience, including full-scale, fully-designed productions before large audiences.

2008 Summer Theatre Arts Programs:

High School Musical Theatre Production (six-week session)
Working with a professional creative team (director, choreographer, musical director, designers), students concentrate on the rehearsal and performance of a major musical theatre production, with full design and technical support. We're sorry, this program has reached fulled enrollment for Summer 2008.

High School Musical Theatre Workshop (three-week session)
Working with a team of teacher/specialists, students explore the distinctive challenges of the musical theatre genre through survey work with songs, characterizations, vocal work and choreography. We're sorry, this program has reached fulled enrollment for Summer 2008.

High School Repertory Theatre Production (six-week session)
Students participate in a company ensemble that produces at least one large-cast, non-musical play from classical or contemporary theatrical repertoire, with full design and technical support. We're sorry, this program has reached fulled enrollment for Summer 2008.

Theatre Design and Technology (Six-week session)
Students have the opportunity to concentrate on their primary area of design interest whenever possible (scenery, costumes, lighting, props, scene painting or stage management) under the supervision of professional design faculty and staff.

Musical Theatre Intensive Program (one-week session)
Students will work with a team of experienced professionals and/or university instructors who will help the serious student of Theatre in all areas of preparation for college and professional theatre programs. We're sorry, this program has reached fulled enrollment for Summer 2008.
