Horn Institute ::
Program length 1 Week
Dates June 13 - June 19, 2009
Cost $880
Age range This program is open to students who will complete grades 9-12 during the 2008-09 school year, and college students up to age 22. (Note: college-aged students will be housed in cabins separate from high school participants.)

Overview

The Horn Institute is an opportunity for horn players to spend a week of intensive study with a distinguished faculty of performers and teachers.

Details

  • Daily master classes focus on practice techniques and routines, instrument history, solo literature, professionalism and ethics of the music business.
  • Etude studies include the Kopprasch Etudes, Maxime- Alphonse Etudes, Concone Etudes, etc.
  • Private lessons give students personal instruction with the distinguished faculty.
  • Rehearsals for small and large ensembles are daily.
  • Performances by faculty members and distinguished artists are the highlight of the week.

Audition/Portfolio Requirements

  • Record two solo works of contrasting style on a CD or DVD.
  • Submit the audition and label the recording and its casing with the applicant's full name, "Institute Division," instrument and repertoire presented.
