Overview

This program is designed for students with moderate to advanced experience in musical theatre. Working with a professional creative team (director, choreographer, musical director, designers), students concentrate on the rehearsal and performance of a major musical theatre production, with full design and technical support.

Details

This program includes:

  • Musical Theatre Rehearsal
  • Private voice lessons
  • Acting Technique
  • Theatre Topics

We are considering the following titles at this time: Sweeney Todd, Carousel, Lady Be Good, Cinderella, Children of Eden, Hairspray. The final choice is dependent on several variables, and may or may not come from this list.

Audition Requirements

  • Two 16-bar excerpts from two different songs from standard musical theatre repertoire with piano accompaniment. One excerpt should be from an up-tempo song, and one should come from a ballad or slow song.
  • Prepare one monologue of your choice. No longer than three minutes.
  • Applicants with dance experience should include a one-minute sample of movement or dance, representative of skill-level (include pirouettes, jumps and any type of acrobatic movements).
  • Record the above requirements on a standard full-size VHS tape (US format) or DVD (preferred).
  • Submit the audition and label the recording and its casing with the applicant's full name, presented repertoire and the program notation "H.S. Musical Theatre Production" or "H.S. Musical Theatre Workshop."

Note: Applicants to the six-week Musical Theatre Production program who wish to be considered for the three-week Musical Theatre Workshop should submit two copies of their audition recording with the appropriate labels.
