Overview

The High School Harp Program at Interlochen Arts Camp involves playing opportunities that promote serious individualized study as well as ensemble skills and experience. Concentration on the student's musical growth and solo repertoire extends from the private lesson to studio classes.

The large ensemble aspect of the program supports many different performing groups: orchestras, wind ensembles and choirs. An in-depth harp ensemble structure is also an integral part of the curriculum. Rotation of the harpists for the ensembles allows for quality practice time and preparation for student recitals, when appropriate.

The preliminary round of the Concerto Competition requires that an applicant submit a recorded video performance on VHS (US format) or preferably on DVD, (postmarked no later than May 1). Finalists will be selected and notified by June 15. The competition will take place during the first week of camp. Competition criteria will be posted on the Interlochen website in late January.
