House Policies
In consideration of our students and the State of Michigan clean air laws, Interlochen Center for the Arts (ICA) has adopted a smoke-free policy. Smoking is not permitted in buildings or on the ICA campus. We request the cooperation of all visitors, guests and Artists. Alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited on the ICA campus. ICA reserves the right to have anyone removed from its campus that poses a threat to them or others. This will include but is not limited to anyone that is under the influence of alcohol or narcotics. Corson is a non-union venue. All staffing will be at the discretion of the ICA Director of Presentations and the Production Coordinator. ICA does not permit any action that would be violating any local fire codes.
This will include, but is not limited to the following:
- A total blackout of the seating area of the theatre is not allowed. The laws in the state of Michigan state that the side aisle lights must be at the level of 30% during any performance.
- Exit lights cannot be turned off or covered.
- All exits and aisles will remain free from any obstacle at all times.
The use of smoke machines and pyrotechnic equipment must be approved by the ICA technical personnel no latter than two weeks before the intended use.
In consideration to our patrons, no equipment will interfere with sight lines of the permanently installed seating. This includes speaker stacks and control consoles.
The use of any device that must be anchored into or alters the structure of the building is not permitted. This includes the use of a stage screws.
All equipment used in Corson must meet all UL, NEC, NFC, and OSHA standards for safety. The management reserves the right to deny the use of any equipment or set pieces that do not meet these standards.
Written certification of fireproofing for all "goods" ("soft" and otherwise) to be used on any stage must accompany such goods. Grand Traverse County Fire Marshall requires these documents to be presented on the day of the show into his own hand.
All parking will be at the discretion of ICA. Buses, trucks, and other vehicles will be parked as close as possible to the venue.
Where possible, ICA reserves the right to use ICA equipment for productions in Corson. All lighting, sound, and stage equipment that is a part of Corson Auditorium is to be handled by ICA personnel unless prior arrangements have been made.
Corson is open to performers 1 ½ hrs. prior to curtain time unless other arrangements have been made. The house is opened to the public ½ hr. prior to curtain time.
The ICA security staff provides all security. These persons are unarmed and wear an institution uniform.

Load-In
Loading Dock Door Measures: 10' X 10'
The loading dock is located at street level and all equipment must be ramped to the ground. This dock level is the same as the stage floor and the dressing rooms. Distance from the dock to Center Stage is about 75'. The dock can accommodate only one truck at a time.

Company Switch
There is an electrical hookup located on the back wall of the stage right wing, approximately 50' from center stage. POWER IS 200 AMP 125V, 3-PHASE.

Orchestra Lift
The orchestra lift extends in a curve in front of the apron. It measures 8' downstage from the proscenium/plaster line at the center and 2' at each end. It has a 36,000 lb. capacity. It measures 13' deep by 48' wide and can accommodate approximately 45 musicians.
The pit is a hydraulic lift and has 4 preprogrammed stops:
#1 is flush with the stage
#2 is flush with the audience (3'-6" below stage)
#3 is pit level with doors opening to the basement
#4 is at the basement level
The lift can be controlled from either backstage or on the pit itself

Mixing Position
There is no permanently installed sound system in Corson. We have an in-house Audio department that can serve most needs. Arrangements for any sound requirements should be made through the Director of Presentations at time of contract signing.
Headset System
Corson has a four-channel CLEARCOM system. There are 20 stations Matrix assignable. Accommodation in regards to headsets should be made in advance. There is also a paging/stage program speaker system for the dressing rooms

Lighting System
There are six panic stations, four in the house, one backstage and one in the booth, each of which will bring the houselights on full immediately.
Control is via an ETC Insight 2x console. Designer’s remote monitors and a wired RFU are also available.There are two 5 slider ETC preset boxes. One is in the SR wing and the other is in the FOH Lighting booth.
There are six panic stations, four in the house, one backstage and one in the booth. They turn the houselights on full immediately. These cannot be deactivated. The lighting system and all units in the inventory have Stage Pin Plugs. Please contact the technical personnel for a complete instrument inventory.

Rigging System
Corson does not have any fly loft space. The capacity for line sets are a total 1,300 lbs. Line sets trim out at 26'. They fly to within 4' of the floor. The battens are 76' long. Line sets 2,3,5,6,8,9 are those of the permanent sound shell. Total height to steel is 28' - 6". Line sets 1, 4, 7, 10 are electric raceways. Line sets 11, 12 are available for cycs, scrims or backdrops.

Draperies
The front teaser and main curtain are blue velour. They can be opened from stage right. The main curtain is motorized and the speed is adjustable. There are 4 preprogrammed stops that may be used. The fastest speed is 15 seconds for full open.
There are 3 pairs of dead hung black velour travelers. They are 26' high by 64' wide at ½ fullness and may be used as legs.
There are NO borders. The 3 permanent overstage sound shells may be used as masking and are painted black.

Orchestra Shell
Corson Auditorium has an orchestra shell. This shell is comprised of 10 Wenger Diva Towers. The units are 12' long, 20' high and are moved with an air caster.
The shell can be configured in a variety of ways, and will be stored off stage left when not in use. When stored, the shell requires a floor space of 14' by 8'. A complete strike of the shell requires a minimum of 2 hours.
There is also a permanent overhead acoustic shell. These are 3 overhead shells as indicated in the hanging plot. They function as masking borders, and are painted black. The overhead shell cannot be cleared.

Audience Seating
Corson Auditorium has a capacity of 952 regular and 4 wheelchair seats. Seating is continental. The rear seats are located about 80' from stage. Balconies are not available for seating. The doors open at ½ hour prior to concert time. Seating area access to stage is via runways located on either side of the stage.
